In this age where music genres are not simply styles of music but expressions which individuals identify with, Rap music has become an established culture in Africa, with a tremendous growth in its faithful followers. Therefore, it is no surprise that the MOVE Tour Africa organized by XIST Music has been painting cities of Africa red with four of Christian Rap music’s leading voices. On Monday 3rd September, 2012, the tour team came to Ladi Kwali Hall Sheraton Hotel Abuja. In spite of the Nigeria-bound flight from Zimbabwe which was cancelled on Sunday, necessitating a postponement of the Abuja concert, the hall was surprisingly packed full Monday night when the concert was eventually held. Monday night!!! With combined proficiency in the music industry, personal experiences and a message of the gospel and hope, Da T.R.U.T.H, The Ambassador, Jahaziel and Sean Simmonds owned the audience as each performed song after song with full crowd participation.
Also performing at the concert were Nutty Josh, Sokleva ‘repping’ the Rooftop MCs, BOUQUI, Ambassage, Provabs and non-rap artistes: Solomon Lange, Mo, Samsong and Asu Ekiye.
In a few words, the MOVE Tour came to Africa and Nigerians proved that they have got the ‘RAP’ bug.
